Notice forms and nomination of examiners

Your notice of submission form should be completed in eProg at least four to six weeks before your thesis submission deadline.

Your notice of submission form will be held in the My Examination Summary link on the left hand menu once you have entered My eProg.

Please make sure that your address details in the student system are up to date prior to completing the online Notice Form. You can update your address details through the self-service function in the Student System – accessible via the My Manchester portal. Please note that it can take up to 72 hours for any changes / additions made in the Student System to appear in eProg.

My Examination Summary will appear in your eProg page six months prior to the end of your programme. If you have been granted early submission please contact the Doctoral Academy regarding accessing the My Examination Summary link.

Supervisor notice of submission form

Once you have completed your notice form within eProg a Notice of Submission Form will appear in your main supervisor’s Examination Tasks. Your supervisor should also receive an email alerting them that this task is awaiting completion.

Opening an Electronic Submission Window in eThesis

Your electronic submission window will open once your supervisor has submitted their notice form online. If you are concerned that your submission window has not be opened, please contact your supervisor in the first instance. If this does not resolve the situation please contact the Doctoral Academy exams team.

Please note: If there are delays in identifying your examiner, you must still submit the notice form and submit your thesis by the submission deadline.

Nomination of examiners

When your supervisor has completed their online Notice of Submission Form a new task will appear in their Examinations Tasks asking them to nominate the examiners for your thesis. You should ensure that you discuss potential examiners with your supervisor. You can both also consult the Nomination of Examiners and Independent Chairs for Postgraduate Research Degree Examinations Policy.

If you have questions about your potential examiners then please approach your PGR Supervisor in the first instance or the Doctoral Academy for clarification.

Delays in nominating examiners

If there are delays in nominating examiners then you should ensure that you still submit your thesis before your final submission deadline expires. The Doctoral Academy will contact your supervisor about the completion of the nomination process in eProg and will keep you informed of progress.
