Academic Advisory Scheme
Starting in September 2025, new PGRs will be allocated a named Academic Advisor.
What is an Academic Advisor?
An Academic Advisor is an academic staff member who is completely independent of your supervisory team. The role of you Academic Advisor is to support both yourself and your Supervisor(s) and assist in monitoring your general progress independently to the supervisor(s).
Your Academic Advisor is responsible for providing pastoral support and advice accordingly. Whilst they may have some variable academic input and knowledge to your research, they do not have responsibility for your research project.
You will meet with your Advisor once per year for a 1-to-1 meeting and you are responsible to make contact and initiate a meeting.
