Student Route visas (formally Tier 4)
Postgraduate researchers sponsored by The University of Manchester for a Student Route visa have certain responsibilities which must be understood and complied with, as well as co-operating with the University in fulfilling our shared Student Route visa duties to UK Visas & Immigration.
Any breaches to these responsibilities can have serious implications on a student’s studies and continued right to stay in the UK. More information about the responsibilities of students studying on a Student Route visa can be found on the Student Support website.
The Doctoral Academy has a responsibility to monitor and record the attendance of all Postgraduate researchers, and to report periods of absence to the immigration team.
The University has two check points in each academic year, when the Doctoral Academy is required to confirm the current attendance of all Student Route Visa’s. Should you be away from the University due to illness or other reasons, it is important that you inform your supervisor and the Doctoral Academy.
The attendance monitoring check points happened during the following periods:
Dates for the next academic year 2024/25 will be available here soon.
