Wellbeing and mental health

The University of Manchester Counselling and Mental Health Service provides confidential support for a range of personal issues impacting work, self-esteem, relationships, sexuality, mental health, and overall well-being. This service is available to all The University of Manchester students.

The Counselling Service offers targeted counselling and a variety of workshops, including those on managing anxiety, exam stress, procrastination, assertiveness, confidence and self-esteem, low mood, and public speaking. As part of a broader support network, the service can also advise on other university resources and refer individuals to NHS mental health services.

For comprehensive information on student support services, please visit the central Student Support website. If you prefer not to speak with university staff, you can contact the Students' Union by emailing advice.su@manchester.ac.uk or calling 0161 275 8066. The University also provides a secure online platform, Report & Support, for students, staff, and visitors to report incidents of bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, or discrimination and to receive confidential advice from a Harassment Support Advisor. Anonymous reporting is also available.
